I would like to object to the proposed plan for cargo flights to resume at Manston on the grounds the only way for a company to make this plan financially viable is to adopt night flights.

Nights flights are seriously limited at other UK airports in order to protect the local residents. Previous agreements for night flying at Manston have also restricted these flights to outside the hours between 2300 and 0600. It is to be hoped that the residents of Thanet are afforded the same rights as residents living close to other UK airports and that if this plan is passed, night flights will be strictly limited, protecting locals and allowing them to have regular uninterrupted sleep, especially during the summer months with bedroom windows open.

in addition, increased cargo flights would necessarily mean increased traffic comprising HGVs which would have a detrimental effect on the roads from the end of the dual carriageway to the airport, increase noise and also raise the pollution levels.
