Please find below a brief outline of the submissions I wish to make , in relation to Riveroak Strategic Partners application for a Development Consent Order for Manston.
1: Manston as an airport will bring employment ,skilled, semi skilled and unskilled , and will deliver these to an area of high unemployment.
2: As a state of the art cargo hub it will relieve LHR and LSTN of Cargo Aircraft.
3: As an aircraft recycle facility it will provide much needed UK capacity in a growing market.
4: A state of the art reopened Manston Airport will bring far less noise both day and night than with the previous operating airport ,this is undoubtedly due to the latest quiet aircraft.
5: Private investment into an essential national asset here in the south east of England. and if lost to housing or dubious speculative industrial development, it be difficult to be regenerated or replaced.
6: Manston’s geographic location of increased importance after Brexit.
7: Manston’s strength of local support for its re-opening.
8: Education and training ,raising the aspirations of the youth and people of Thanet.
9: Prosperity to an area of depravation.
10: Manston’s access ability to the national road network and Dover port.
12: Economic benefits.
