I live under the Flight path in Ramsgate and within a 7 minute drive of the airport. I have used the airport right from the start of passenger flights to Jersey Channel Islands years ago as well as flights to Majorca Yugoslavia and more recently to South African via the wonderful KLM airline. I was shocked and disappointed when it closed so suddenly as I had only justcspoken to KLM who said the success of flights exceeded their expectations and they were planning increase. Apparently they were as shocked as I was.
I have no objection to night flights and support the re opening of the airport. We need jobs not houses on our island of Thanet. Tourism is beginning to boost again and hotels are getting filled. An airport will increase the visitors to our island and create many jobs which are so needed by our young people here.
Heathrow and Gatwick could expand their passenger flights as cargo operations move to Manston.
Re opening Manston makes perfect sense all round.
