I have lived in Kent for over 50 years and have always seen the necessity for the airport at Manston. Fiest and foremost for the cargo hub and the distribution from there to the rest of the UK. I now understand that these planes now land in northern France and the goods transferred to lorries to be carried across the channel causing no end of problems. Secondly, Manston was used for emergency landings. Emergencies now land at main airports causing undue dalays to thousands of paassengers. Surely this alone is a plus for re-opening Manston. Add to this a passenger service providing much needed jobs for hundreds.
