I fully support the airport proposal as a lifetime resident of thanet. This area needs employment opportunities, skills training and the multitude of associated business that an airport brings. I did my apprenticeship in aeronautical engineering at British Airways and this is something that could be beneficial to generations of young people as it’s a thriving market. If the housing proposals go through I believe it would be a disaster for thanet as the roads and infrastructure are just not up to that many extra cars and people concentrated in one area. Some may argue that manston would create extra heavy cargo traffic But this would go out of thanet directly onto the A299, not towards Westwood where the traffic issue are currently. On the noise issue... I lived at the end of the runway at Heathrow in the early ‘90s and the noise wasn’t an issue. I believe the small footprint of aircraft in the area is not a major concern and an acceptable trade off considering the geographical location.
