I am writing to support the re-opening of Manston as an airport, which undoubtedly constitutes an infrastructure project of national significance. Surely UK PLC cannot overlook the importance of such a strategic asset, London's airports are at full capacity, and road freight via Dover massively threatened by Brexit and the ever-present possibility of operation stack. Freight via Manston offers a real alternative; the local road network has proven capacity to deal with the additional lorries, and the potential future opening of manston parkway rail station could even provide a rail freight alternative too.
And all of this comes with the added bonus of jobs for the local community; workers with additional money to spend to help boost the local economy, and real career opportunities for local school leavers, something severely missing from the area.
Please don't let all of the local scaremongering affect such a nationally important decision, this is such a wonderful opportunity. Lets see Manston as an airport once again.
