I have lived in Ramsgate all my life, 44 years and live directly under the flight path. I have always lived near and currently live under the flight path, the previous ventures at Manston airport have never seen much success and so to date there has never been that much air traffic, so it was bearable. The proposal for the new cargo hub at Manston is, however, a very different story and would have a detrimental affect on many people surrounding Manston. The noise and pollution would be on a massive scale and would affect peoples health and well being. In addition to this Ramsgate having been a depressed area for numerous years, but in recent years is finally on the up, the tourist trade in the area has increased, as has business especially in building and renovation work, mainly due to the influx of people moving into the area. Large cargo planes flying over every twenty minutes would have a negative impact on the area, with the potential for job losses in tourism and building. Please do not allow our town to be destroyed by the promise of jobs at the airport, the negative impact on the area would far outweigh the benefit of the few jobs that would be created for people to be directly employed at the airport.
