Development of Manston as a mainly cargo airport given its location in East Kent will bring an increase in heavy road traffic further clogging the the already congested M2 and M20 motorways. Traffic increase will also bring noise and fume pollution. Noise from aircraft, particularly at night, will be detrimental to the health of East Kent residents under and adjacent to the flight paths with consequent pollution from fumes. Manston has a record of failures of private airlines possibly as a consequence of its remote location from the Medway Towns / London.
