As a local business owner, whose business is based in Herne Bay and is directly affected by these proposals, I wish to lodge my objections to the proposals.

NEGATIVE IMPACT ON OUR WORKING ENVIRONMENT My business premises are in Herne Bay and are under the proposed flight paths. My business involves a number of staff working on site in our office who require a peaceful, quiet and healthy environment to work in as a right. These proposals would mean that we could no longer provide that as at regular intervals, our discussions, phone calls and meetings with clients would be interrupted by very noisy and invasive overhead flights. These would also deposit NO2 and other toxic particulates into the air, making it an unsafe and unpleasant environment to work in. This may reduce my staff’s willingness to work in these conditions and will impact on my ability to carry out a successful business in the area.

NEGATIVE IMPACT ON TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE Our business requires us to make multiple trips in this area on a daily basis to client sites and to meet potential customers. The main link roads A299, A2, M2 and M20 are already over-used resulting in daily accidents, lengthy delays and regular road closures. The proposed increases in HGV usage for fuel provision and transportation of goods would greatly increase the local road use making accidents and road closures much more likely, as well as delaying many more journeys due to increased traffic. This would have a direct and negative impact on my business.

NEGATIVE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT As a business that is concerned about the environment, I wish to object to these proposals with regards to their negative impact on the environment locally.

There would be significant pollution caused by the proposed flights, including an impact on the drainage from the proposed airport which will use an existing outfall pipe directly into the sea at Pegwell Bay. The aviation fuel, if spilled in transit or re-fuelling will cause a negative impact on local bio diversity.
