Thanet is just about dragging itself up from having sunk to the lowest level it could reach. Margate, with the Turner Centre and the ensuing tourism this has attracted which has then spread out to Broadstairs and Ramsgate, and Whitstable will be killed off if commercial freight airlines are allowed to utilise Manston. The noise and pollution will ruin the air quality and peace of the seaside, as well as the undeniable fact that the road system around Manston cannot support the amount of lorries that wld be needed to move any freight to or from the airport, thus reducing the tourists who would be unable to drive easily around the area. The M2 also is to small in both directions to take further traffic, and there are too many occasions whereby the M20 has operation stack due to overload of vehicles. Developing Manston for freight wld definitely exacerbate the problems on the motorways.
