I wish to register my opposition to Manston airport being re-opened as a cargo hub. The effect on the health of people living under the flight path has been documented elsewhere, suffice to say, these effects are universally detrimental. The noise and pollution of heavily laden 'planes flying low over the centre of the town of Ramsgate are unconscionable. There are many reviews, surveys and consultations about the airport and it has been proven, not least with the evidence of history, that it is NOT a viable proposition as an airport. We are a disadvantaged area and the proposal for the cargo hub, with night flights, will not help the economy of this area. The government has to instruct the local council soon on its necessity of building more houses in this area. I believe this is the location for such building, while retaining a heritage aspect to the history of the site.
