I am making a registration for 2 key reasons !. Noise disruption. When I moved to Ramsgate 9 years ago I remember the first day I went to collect one of my 3 daughters from their schools based locally in the central harbour ward of Ramsgate town. As a plane flew overhead, the noise was so deafening I could not hear my daughter or the class teacher speak, The teacher said that often classes were interrupted by noisy planes throughout the day. I also remember my Daughter waking up on a regular basis during the evening alarmed by the startling noise of the low flying engines. These incidents demonstrate how noisy Air traffic can effect the mental, physical, health and well being of young people. This Sleeplessness disturbed nights and effects on academic achievement is well documented. The proposal says "no scheduled night flights" but Cargo flights are not scheduled flights! They arrive when they are needed at any time! RSPs documentation says up to 8 flights a night. This will mean a return to the disruption of Educational development and sleep deprivation. Point 2 Loss of employment opportunities in tourism and small business development. I run a small business which provides Art related courses mainly to visitors to the area, This is currently thriving and within my business I make use of the beautiful local environment to teach these Art courses. Participants have commented on these lovely unique surroundings and tranquil landscapes conducive to Art related practice. With a proposed Cargo Hub, my business and other Tourism related jobs will go. Even though the Cargo hub promises new job creation, these will be few low level skilled jobs and not varied as within Tourism.
