Whilst I understand that there is potential for a cargo airport to provide more employment in the area, I do not feel that there is enough evidence to support this claim in the context that Thanet is a low skilled local economy. The real driver for development and regeneration in the area is tourism which will be affected by cargo planes flying over the area. The area will be much less appealing to tourists with dirty and noisy cargo planes flying low over the towns of Ramsgate and Herne Bay.

Thanet is also a densely populated urban area without the road infrastructure required to support freight transport.

In an area where deprivation is high and educational attainment low I feel that noisy cargo planes will further impede the educational attainment of local school children.
