As a secondary school teacher, I feel I must raise huge concern about the ‘actual’ affect this development would have on children in the area. I understand that 3 schools will find themselves under the proposed flight path - Chilton Primary being only 1.8km from the runway - and I am extremely concerned about levels of NO2 pollution, and the detrimental consequences this will have on these children. Not to mention the noise and how it would significantly impede learning, and inhibit pupils’ sleep due to “unlimited” numbers of night flights.

The proposal appears to be littered with inaccuracies and guess work; noise levels and their expected ripple effects being grossly speculative.

I would also like to stress the historical importance of Ramsgate. There are approximately 450 listed buildings/sites and 4 conservation areas. Figures that have led Ramsgate to become one of Historic England’s first Heritage Action Zones; an accolade that should enable our wonderful town to achieve substantial economic growth due to its rich history and architecture. Regeneration is well underway, but a cargo airport, and one that runs numerous night flights, will, without doubt, hinder everyone’s prospects. For a town that is reliant on tourism, this would mean disaster; especially as the town begins 1.3km from the runway and not 4km, as is incorrectly stated in RPS’ proposal.

Please help!

Yours sincerely,
