Having lived in Ramsgate for over 10 years now, I am greatly concerned at the prospect of Manston Airport re-opening as a cargo hub. Since my arrival here with my family a decade ago, I have seen this town develop slowly, but surely. There is a genuine sense of community here with new people with interesting ideas on how to develop this town arriving steadily from other parts of the country, attracted by the opportunity to make a life by the beautiful Kent coast. This development would, I believe, be crushed almost immediately by the arrival of night flights. It is a step in the wrong direction. One that will have a detrimental effect on the economic and social development of this town and a profound effect on the quality of my children's lives. Night flights will lead to disrupted sleep which will lead to children incapable of concentrating in class. The common sense decision is to deny the request to re-open the airport
