My representation is simple, I believe Manston should remain as an airport primarily to provide much needed jobs in the area. Thanet is a deprived area and needs a major boost to the economy on an ongoing basis.
I believe it makes imminent sense with the onset of Brexit to provide a different route for transport to and from Europe. At present the routes across the channel are close to over capacity without much room for further growth. Manston could provide easy access as a viable alternative to ease the road situation.
Looking to the future of Manston the south east is ready for a gateway to global travel routes as an alternative to London Heathrow and London Gatwick. This will also provide further jobs for the future.
Last but by no means least Manston provided a vital role during World War 2 and has a significant value with that alone. But for the whole of history that has gone before Manston deserves to have an airport situated on this site bringing fresh blood and new growth to this venerated site.
