I feel that to ease the severe overcrowding of freight/passenger flights in airports in the south of England a new airport is needed. Gatwick has only one runway and is operating at near full capacity. Having a freight hub at Manston would divert freight traffic away from Gatwick thus freeing up capacity. A functioning airport would generate many local jobs.

The present Manston site owners are planning building thousands of houses in an area with very little local employment. Local villages like Minster will be choked with traffic from all of these new homeowners wanting to use local facilities. The local area is simply not geared to cope with these huge numbers. There are also difficulties with the water table being so close to the surface with the potential for sewerage contamination on site.
