Dear PINS, I am writing to give you my views on the recent acceptance for scrutiny of the intended development for aviation use of Manston Airport in Kent. I feel that it is vitally important both locally and nationally for the airport to be reinstated and operated for aviation related business. I have included some main bullet points below as to why.

  • Aviation Related Business and top quality jobs
  • The ability to compete globally for business
  • Air freight is a growing industry and current airports can't satisfy the demand
  • Science Engineering Technology and Maths education focus (STEM)
  • With STEM it gives those in education a valid choice to pursue a well paid respected career in aviation
  • The site is of national importance and significance and cannot afford to be lost
  • The application made by RSP looks to answer the above needs both locally and nationally.
  • I go away on business a lot and would much rather go from Manston than have to trek to LHR each time
  • I have worked at Manston and in doing so provided valuable training and education for me as an aerospace inspection engineer which has served me well into the future and new career.
  • I live directly under the long western final approach to Manston and have no issue with aircraft passing my property
  • The local area needs Manston as an operational airport as does the UK
  • The local youngsters can aspire to a valuable well paid career in aviation, this can be linked up to schools and colleges locally to advertise what a career in an aviation related discipline involves and the satisfaction rewards that it can bring

I hope to see aviation returning to Manston soon.
