Main Issues & Impacts - This monstrosity will be a blight on the community and our surrounding green spaces! We are already surrounded by HUGE warehouse parks - Magna park along the A5 which has been around since 1988 & is still being developed, the latest DPD & Amazon Hub right next to Leonardo Hotel which also looks to still being developed & extended & there seems to be a growing lorry park right off the M69. The M69 roundabout is gridlocked every day and makes the journey into work stressful, long & tedious - the daily commute as well as weekends consists of queuing with your engine running & as we know is not good for the environment. I value that I can walk through the lovely green spaces we have here especially Burbage common. I can envisage that the HGV traffic will come from Magna park area/ DPD/ Amazon site, along the A5 carriageway and onto the roundabout at the M69 before exiting onto the proposed freight terminal - making that roundabout worse than it currently is. We also have the purpose built Dirft site nearby -with its rail lines built for freight which it would seem is being under utilised! Why can't this be the place that lorries go to to get onto the rail line? why then keep building new places and further impacting the environment?. A search on the internet already brings up other rail freight sites around the area - East Midlands Rail freight based near East Mids airport being just 1 example & I bet that also is under utilised. I have been a long term resident of Hinckley & have seen how large developments have moved in & taken the heart out of our community making it just another gridlocked town.
