The choice to use land on the outskirts of Burbage for this behemoth of warehouses will have an enormous and detrimental impact on the local wildlife and communities. Burbage woods is a unique place for local people to exercise and take advantage of the many natural resources in our area, which will be blighted by the plans put forward. The site itself will encompass a massive area of the available land between Hinckley, Burbage and the surrounding villages, which do not require the alleged additional jobs being brought to the area. It is likely that any workers taken on (if approved), will not be from the local area, so introducing additional road traffic on to roads that are already struggling at peak hours. We have two low bridges locally that are on arterial routes through our area, which are already prone to many bridge strikes - being amongst the highest number of bridge strikes in the country. Any additional road traffic brought on by this development will only likely increase the number of these types of incidents, that will result in affected traffic diverting through ‘rat runs’ through already busy local estates . This already occurs on a regular basis that results in further traffic gridlock to an existing issue. An increase in rail traffic will also have a detrimental impact on people and houses that align the railroad. Existing rail traffic already causes a lot of vibration felt throughout the night, which may likely cause issues to the local housing stock, especially if the rail traffic does significantly increase as suggested. There are already other areas around locally that are being expanded to satisfy the alleged need for warehousing, so why do we need to have another one forced upon this neighbourhood, that is not needed by our local community?!
