The main issues I have with project is on a number of levels. Firstly, it is not required in this area as there is already Daventry (DIRFT) and East Midlands Gateway in the near surrounding region, as well as huge, unused warehousing facilities at both of those AND Magna Park Lutterworth and Coventry Airport. Secondly, if built the additional traffic will be hugely negative on the area. The M1/M69 Junction nearby is currently a traffic blackspot anyway without this, with daily congestion. Addition of thousands of HGV's and workers vehicles to this will create chaos at this roundabout and further North/South on the M1 queueing to get off. This will have huge knock-on affects to already busy area of Fosse Park retail. Traffic on the already congested, single lane A5 will be hugely affected by the extra traffic and subsequent towns like Nuneaton will also be adversely affected as travel to them will be massively delayed. Personally I know how congested Sapcote Road going into Hinckley is already, and Hinckley Road through Burbage. Often it is gridlocked when I leave my house on Sapcote Road to go towards Hinckley or up into Burbage. Again, having thousands more road movements nearby will make Sapcote Road a standstill and as a result the air quality will decrease and pollution will rise for many in the surrounding areas. This will be heightened if workers from companies at the development, then leave and join the traffic. You can already "taste" and smell car fumes when walking along Sapcote Road and up Hinkckley Road while on school runs, so this increase in traffic (which the developed did not deny at the consultation) will obviously have a knock on effect on childrens quality of air and life nearby. Noise from the M69 is also an issue in Burbage currently, without further noise being added to from thousands more cars and HGV's on the roads. In addition to this, we have the environmental aspect of this potential development. Taking away natural fields, grass and marsh land will obviously have a huge effect on the local area. Cutting down trees that are hundreds of years old will reduce local carbon absorption, increase surface water run off and destroy wild animals habitats on a huge scale. There will also be knock on effects to nearby farms and animal grazings. The loss of part of Burbage Common and having the development next to it will be a tragegy to the local community and the huge buildings will be an eyesore for miles around. All local MP's and councils are against this development as is every local person I have spoken to. Any benefits it MAY bring to the local economy will be far outweighed by the loss in natural habitat and animals, clean air, quality of life, increase in traffic, noise and pollution not to mention that the development is not needed due to already having several local facilties. My families day to day quality of life will be hugely affected by this development if it goes ahead and as a result I am very much against this.
