I am against this application. I fail to see the need for such a scheme in this location, because; 1. There are at least 2 similar facilities with 25 miles, 1 at DIRFT rail freight terminal, off Junction 19,M1, and the second near the East Midlands Airport also off the M1 2. The planed development is to be build next to Hinckley Common, a much used and loved community facility by not only the local population. I live approx, 8 miles from the common and travel twice a week to walk there. It is difficult if not impossible to equate the loss of this much used facility with the mathematics used by the developers, which i note they have failed to do in there application. By law they are required to carry out numerous environmental surveys, its a shame they haven’t carried these out as part of there legal requirements? 3. I believe that the projected number of jobs this development will create is false, neither either of the two sites I have mentioned above have even 1% of employees. 4. I don’t believe the developers have considered the environmental impact on the wildlife and flora and fauna that exists in the location. 5. The number of HGV movements has been seriously underestimated. 6. 98%+ of Rail freight is currently in use, it is hard to understand that this proposal will somehow create more use of a secondary (outside of the use of HGV’s) carriers for freight. 7. The idea that 300,000 HGV journeys will be removed by this non-existent rail fright capacity is for the birds. Moreover at the end of May 2023, longer HGV’s are being allowed to take to highways. This increase in size is also forecast to remove hundreds of thousands of HGV journeys. So if that is the case then surely that will mean more HGV movements to move the Goods from this proposed rail fright terminal to the end users, by who?
