Dear Members of the Examining Authority, I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to express my deep concern and objection regarding the proposed construction of the Hinckley National Rail Freight Interchange. As a resident of the area, I feel it is my duty to voice my opposition to this development. First and foremost, I understand and appreciate the need for economic growth and development in our community. However, I believe that the establishment of a rail freight interchange at the proposed location would have significant negative consequences for the residents and the environment. One of the primary concerns is the detrimental impact on the local environment and the surrounding countryside. The construction and operation of the rail freight interchange would result in increased noise pollution, air pollution, and traffic congestion. This would not only disrupt the peace and tranquility of the area but also have adverse effects on the health and well-being of the residents, including potential respiratory issues from increased pollution levels. Additionally, the proposed interchange would lead to a significant increase in heavy vehicle traffic, including large lorries and freight trains, on local roads. This would not only pose a safety hazard but also contribute to further congestion on already strained transportation networks. The increased traffic volume would also impact the quality of life for residents, affecting their ability to travel freely and safely. Moreover, the proposed development raises concerns about the preservation of green spaces and wildlife habitats. The area in question is home to a variety of flora and fauna, some of which may be endangered or at risk. The construction of the interchange would inevitably result in the loss of valuable green spaces and the destruction of these habitats, which are crucial for the ecological balance of our local environment. Lastly, the economic benefits of the interchange must be carefully evaluated against the potential negative impacts. While economic growth and job creation are important, it is vital to consider the long-term sustainability and overall well-being of the community. It is essential to explore alternative development options that strike a balance between economic progress and the preservation of our natural surroundings. I urge the committee to reject the proposal for the Hinckley National Rail Freight Interchange and to engage in a thorough and transparent consultation process with the residents and other stakeholders. It is crucial that the voices and concerns of the community are heard and given due consideration before any final decisions are made. Thank you for taking the time to consider my objection. I remain hopeful that you will prioritize the best interests of the community and carefully assess the potential impacts of the proposed development. Yours faithfully, Adam Cookes
