This is a poorly thought out proposal. The traffic implications alone are going to be problematic and every 'mitigation' i have seen put forward by Tritax thus far is unworkable. From the initial "all lorries will go onto the motorway there will be no impact on the villages", to the first proposed bypass through a floodplain between Stoney Stanton and Sapcote, to the lack of understanding that Sharnford couldn't handle an increase in traffic in rushhour on the B4114 anyway. The proposal for the small roundabout in Stoney Stanton, with traffic lights (to back up traffic past the doctors surgery and school) to the parking bays there will somehow be width for up a road which is already single file traffic during rush hour is just untenable. With industrial estates come rats. And this industrial estate is being built right next to Burbage common - there is no way nesting birds will survive that. I am also unconvinced that this site will be flood neutral given the inaccuracy of some of the information provided by the company at community events. I would also query the requirement for another rail freight terminal here given we have several large ones very close by, DIRFT is within half an hour. The decision not to put any passenger access to trains is also an error in judgement - there is little public transport in local villages. I would also challenge as unfounded the assumption made by the developers that the majority of people working at the site will be local and therefore not reliant on cars.
