I live on Morley Road Sapcote and house also faces onto Leicester Road. the traffic as increased significantly since we moved in 10 years ago and there is now no x55 bus route which as increased the people owning cars in the village. Vehicles now park on both sides of Leicester road which as caused many close encounters with vehicles not giving way and nearly causing a head on collision. Large vehicles also have difficulties in getting past. This rail freight terminal would cause traffic chaos in the village and developer as not really resolving come up with any firm conclusions about traffic. A new bypass is required before anything like this goes ahead. Also opening up the south bound access to M69 would create great problems as traffic from large parts of Leicestershire would come through Sapcote to access motorway to travel to work etc and village would not cope with this let alone traffic wanting to get to rail Freight. We already have a large company Calor gas in next village their vehicles are supposed to use a route around Sapcote however occasionally they come through the village ang get stuck in Stanton road as access with cars parked not wide enough for large vehicles to get through. I was also told that in 1966? when the then Transport minister Mr Marples built the M69 the reason the two access roads at junction2 of M69 not provided was that the road network around Sapcote could not sustain the amount of Traffic it would generate, since then the road structure as not changed and traffic as increased ten fold since then and opening the two access's would be stupid for the area. Also I can imaged big environmental problems for the area if the rail freight goes ahead. We also have at least two large housing developments in the pipeline over 4000 houses on opposite side of M69 to rail Freight and another 400 house in Aston Flamville also heard of another large development in pipe line at Earl Shilton 300plus houses. The village would not cope madness to go ahead.
