The Hinckley Rail Freight Interchange is totally in the wrong place. We already have a Rail Freight Terminal a short distance away along the A5 in Rugby which is still operating under capacity 20 years since being built so there is no need for another one. Tritax say they will be now be focusing their business on the warehouses at Magna Park, Lutterworth; South Leicestershire and Coventry. This will mean an enormous increase in heavy goods vehicles travelling along the A5 and M69. These roads are already congested especially at peak times. Not to mention the air and noise pollution created by HGVs. Tritax mention the ‘local’ automotive industry. We have no local automotive industry other than Triumph Motorcycles which is on the opposite side of Hinckley Town to the proposed HNRFI. I believe they have changed their proposals simply to hoodwink the Government body looking into their proposals. And also trying to convince local people that there will be no impact on local roads. There is also the very important matter of the environment and wildlife. Burbage Common and woods is really the only wildlife area that we have given the fact that thousands of houses are being built in this area with no increase in infrastructure such as schools, doctors and dentists. I urge those assessing this proposal to turn it down flat once and for all.
