I understand that there will be an access road from the development onto the A47 joining at either the Barwell or Earl Shilton roundabouts. The road off the Common roundabout into Hinckley (Leicester Road) must have a deterrent built in so that vehicles from the development use the A47 in either direction. This section of the road up to the golf club must be widened and to include a suitable off-road footpath and cycle way. This footpath/cycle way to have upgraded lighting. Many school children from Barwell/Earl Shilton have to use this route along with many others. The major Hinckley sports fields are along this road too. The main entrance onto Burbage Common is also off this road. As such there are many people walking/cycling along Leicester Road daily. Currently it is unpleasant to walk along and pedestrians need to step into the road to pass each other. The current narrow road compounded by the change in gradient makes cycling hazardous. The logical increase in traffic will make this journey potentially dangerous and a health and safety issue for local residents.
