A railfreight interchange serving the industrial areas of Birmingham and Coventry sounds a good idea, but siting it in Hinckley, thirty plus miles away does not. It is not required here and will in no way benefit the local community. Rather, it will destroy an area of beautiful, open, country that seperates local towns and villages, and will bring in more traffic and polution. Hinkley's railfreight interchange is not of strategic importance as there are already several others in the county. The size of the site is far greater than that required simply to transfer the proposed amount of freight to/from rail/road. Rather, the railfreight interchange is being used as a callous attempt to justify building yet another warehouse complex, which southern Leicestershire already has far more than its fair share of.
