The Hinckley Rail Freight Interchange is not required in this area. There are many very large freight depots in the Midlands area and existing or approved rail freight interchanges already - namely A5 corridor, Magna Park, Hinckley Parks, Rugby, Daventry, Tamworth, Cannock RFI, Burton onTrent RFI Castle Donnington EDMC RFI, DIRFT Rugby to name a few. There would be an increase in truck journeys on the local road network which already struggles to cope with HGVs passing through the village of Burbage especially when an incident occurs on the A5. There has been substantial development along the A5 corridor without any commensurate improvement in road conditions which leads to heavy daily congestion. The proposed development would only increase the congestion with workers' vehicles. The development would be seriously detrimental to the adjacent Burbage Common and Woods, a SSSI and registered park and garden area. No amount of new planting could compensate for the damage done to the existing parkland, wildlife, flora and ambiance. There would be serious reductions in air quality in the area, increased noise and light impact to wildlife and residents. This is not an area of high unemployment, therefore workers would need to travel to the site, day and night, 7 days a week causing further disruption. The Tritax Symmetry public consultations did not fully inform on the effects the development would cause to the local area and the village of Burbage.
