I have considerable reservations with regard to this project as from an ecological and biodiversity stance taking up 662 acres of rural land seems unnecessary when there are so many brown field sites within the wider area. The impact upon highways (many of which are currently country lanes) will massively increase traffic issues and will negatively impact air quality and noise pollution. The idea of using rail is surely to move freight off the roads but this scheme seems to be still focusing on moving the freight across the road network with little thought given to the impact this will have upon traditional village communities in the surrounding area.
