I am concerned about the location of this proposed project and the rational for it. My concerns arise from the following points: 1. The proposed site is right next to Burbage Common, an SSI and an important local recreational amenity. The developer's proposals suggest that the habitats lost to the surrounding countryside can be replaced with on site hedges. I do not agree. In addition, they say that the footpaths in the surrounding area are not well used, but as a local walker I know that this is not the case. Additionally, the plan to redevelop the Burbage Common Extension will radically change the use of that area and the rest of Burbage Common. 2. The link road to the A47 will destroy the peace and tranquility on the east side of the Common with large lorries constantly using it. 3. I am not convinced that the Rail Freight Interchange will make 'significant' use of rail freight. My understanding is that the development is a national infrastructure project because of that. I believe that the developers are using this as a justification of its necessity and location.
