  1. Considering the potential growth in population of Hinckley, I would expect recreational facilities for the area to be matched to such growth. Considering Burbage Common to be a recreational facility, the reduction in size resulting from the proposed railfreight terminal would have the opposite effect. 2. Considering the effect on the existing groundwater regime of the construction of the proposed railfreight terminal, where a considerable new roof area would lead to rainwater being discharged into drainage systems, rather than soak into the ground locally, this might result in a lowering of the groundwater level in the main park area of Burbage Common. This could have long term effects on plant growth and wildlife activity in the area. 3. There is likely to be an increase in sound pollution caused by rail and road traffic movements generated, not to mention an increase in air pollution. 4. There is likely to be an increase in local traffic congestion, which is also currently an issue.
