I feel there are a number of negative impacts which have prompted me to object to the proposed Hinckley rail freight terminal, these are. 1) the impact on traffic both from increased road traffic within the immediate area and delays at rail crossings in the local villages. Some of these areas were not included in Titrax original assessment but have been added to the application. 2) the impact on the local wildlife during the construction phase and the loss of the natural environment forever. The site is adjacent to a local common and woodland. The construction will also require access roads which will destroy part of the common. Titrax fail to understand does not remain in the adjacent wooded area but use the rural area they are applying to build on. Buying rural land to turn into what are already used by the local wildlife. Is not off setting environment issues. 3) the impact of noise and light pollution on nearby residents. There is a well established traveller site adjacent to the proposed site. Light pollution immediately next to the common is likely to disrupt the natural life cycles of the wildlife. Sound from this area travels several miles - it is a natural amphitheatre. 4) the impact of noise on the enjoyment of Burbage common and the wildlife. 5) the air quality is likely to deteriorate in the local area due to the increase in traffic. Additionally I feel that Tritax have not completed their assessments of the site with due diligence. Examples of this are where they reported no ground water at the site, this was proved to be incorrect. They also stated that the scheme would benefit the areas of social deprevation in Hinckley, there is no social deprevation in Hinckley. Hinckley has low unemployment and a lower crime rate than the national average. These and other examples lead me to doubt a lot of the other information provided. In consultation Titrax also stated the main area to be served would be the Coventry automobile sector - electric battery plant- This is no longer viable due to the UK having no viable electric battery production. Their main focus has changed to Magna Park at Lutterworth. This area has been running for sometime and is already serviced by Drift at Rugby which is not working to capacity. Therfore Trtrax rail terminal is not required.
