The main reason for my objections to the proposed SRFIs is the detrimental effect on the environment. This proposal is vast with 1500,000 square metres plus 200,000 square metres of mezzanine floor space. I have concerns about the following: a) Noise and Air pollution. Large vehicles reversing constantly in and around the warehouses will be heard for some distance, not to mention the noise from other traffic on site and on local roads. Tritax Symmetry Ltd, developer for this site, say that “Traffic modelling identifies necessary modifications to several junctions on the local road network in response to the different traffic flow pattern” I realise this is to prevent congestion, but I also realise it means there will be a fundamental increase in traffic not just from HGVs but the people who will work there. More emissions equals more air pollution. b) light pollution. Where we live in Hinckley we can see Magna Park ( Lutterworth) one of Europe’s premier logistics locations, lit up warehouses glittering on the horizon. This must impact on the birds and mammals and invertebrates that once lived there. Not to mention the people who live near. Why indeed do we need two very large logistic locations so near to each other? c) Farm land diminishing. Most of the land that will be occupied by warehouses is at present farm land. As a country, I feel, we need to be growing more food not destroying the land it is grown on.Sheep cows and horses also graze this land. Once it’s gone it’s gone forever. d) Burbage Common, an important habitat for birds mammals and invertebrates runs on the perimeter of the proposed site. Beautiful woodlands and areas of natural beauty. It is a place well used by people and during covid lockdown it was a blessing for people’s mental wellbeing, including mine. It is a calm and beautiful environment and I fear that the effects from noise air and light pollution will impact upon the people who walk there. The wildlife will also be affected including the many species of birds such as Lesser, Greater and Green Woodpeckers, Tawny Owls, Jays and the many other that birds that make this Common their habitat. Also in the Common are at least 20 species of butterflies ,100 species of fungi and 25 species of mammals. The warehouses are far too close to this Common! f) Global warming !! This speaks for itself. Finally, I want our country side to be protected, not destroyed. We should be planting trees not warehouses. We should be growing more of our food. The future of generations to come is at stake. This planet is at stake. Thank you
