1 Not convinced we need another rail freight terminal when there are others in the area ( reported 7 within 40mile radius). 2 Despite the mitigation measures proposed the terminal will still have an impact on Burbage common a SSSI eg visual ,noise, light. 3 The UK needs to protect and enhance biodiversity ( being one of the least wilded countries in Europe). If the UK was serious about enhancing biodiversity it could use this land for rewilding ie extend Burbage Common. 4 Burbage common is one the best amenities in the area. I've used the Common for over 30 years and have grandchildren. Can our children not experience this little haven in the same way we have. We are not handing over a good planet to the next generation. 5 Despite assurances given there will be increased commercial traffic causing congestion in the area eg there are already bottle necks at the M69/M1 junction now. It is forseeable traffic from the terminal will cut through Hinckley to avoid queues elsewhere passing two local schools. 6 Reports in local media indicate the most people are not in favour of the development and if it does go ahead it will be another blow for the environment a local democracy. I know Government will say it NIMBY but its more than that its damaging a precious site in the area for a purpose that I don't believe can be justified.
