I object to the proposed HNRFI. It is a mistake to site such a facility so close to a town which already suffers from traffic congestion and is a junction of north/south and east/west local commuters and through traffic. It will be detrimental to the quality of life for all people in the area and its wildlife. I would like to raise the following points: 1.Road Congestion. -This is the single biggest problem. -The hub is to serve Leicestershire,Warwickshire and the West Midlands and so it is expected that goods will be shipped to and fro from the site to the north, east, south and west. -The main trunk arteries will be M69/M1 northbound,M69 southbound,M69/M6 westbound. In addition The A5 east and westbound would also be used. When there are incidents on the M69, M1, or M6 traffic is diverted onto the M5 and through Hinckley causing major congestion in the area. - It is expected that local goods will be taken to and from the site. This will result in more white vans passing through in the hinckley and local area using rat runs and inappropriate routes. -The Narborough level crossing will be adversely affected. - All this extra traffic will cause more congestion on the A5, A47, A447 affecting the local population as well as commuters and long distance travellers. - Can Tritax prove that this will not happen. 2. Air pollution. - The Hinckley area is bordered by the M69 and A5 which carry large volumes of traffic creating air pollution. The proposed HNRFI will significantly add to this. - Trains to the NRFI will have diesel locomotives which when on site could be running their engines for around 30 minutes when stationary. - Can Tritax prove that air pollution will not significantly increase due to the NRFI. 3. Loss of natural habitat. - We need to conserve and not destroy our natural habitats. - Although not encroached by NRFI, its presence will be detrimental to the birds and animals of Burbage Common who not only use this area but adjacent areas as well. - The mitigation proposed by Tritax will not compensate for such an area lost. 4. Noise pollution. - Vehicles and trains working 24/7 will cause more noise in the whole area. 5. Light pollution - The circadian rhythms of birds and other animals will be affected by the amount of light generated by NRFI due to its 24/7 working. - The mitigation proposed by Tritax will not result in as dark an area that exists now. 6. Number of new jobs. - Supposedly 8000 new jobs are to be created, but I understand that modern warehousing is substantially automated. - What are these new jobs and over what period of time will this figure be achieved. - Does this figure include construction jobs.
