I believe the road infrastructure (especially the A47 northern perimeter road) is not able to support the predicted increase in commercial (HGV) and domestic traffic which will be generated if the rail freight hub goes ahead. “Improvements” to this road and various junctions, as well as a new link road have been suggested in the planning application. This will definitely increase the amount of traffic using the A47 which is already a very busy road whereby for safety reasons right turn exit from both the Morrisons and McDonalds has been prohibited. It will be impossible to turn right out of both Nelson drive and Drake way onto the A47 for residents and visitors to the Admirals housing estate. The ongoing Hinckley Fields development has already seen an increase volume of traffic which has increased the vibration and damage to mine, and a number of houses that border the northern perimeter road. If the proposed introduction of the trunk road and “improvements” to the A47 go ahead this will definitely increase the number and size of logistics and commercial traffic, thus further increasing both noise, vibration and or pollution causing further damage to property and residents well-being. I would like to see a traffic impact assessment for this development, taking into account the already ongoing and future proposed residential developments, and or any suggestions to minimise this impact.
