This development is completely unnecessary and simply seeks to duplicate existing facilities in this area. Indeed a new industrial development has just been approved by the local authorities of Rugby, Nuneaton, and Hinckley & Bosworth on the A5 trunk road and right alongside the same railway line. Rail/Road transfer facilities, if needed at all, could be provided at this site which is within 4 miles of the proposed development. The A5 trunk road is already lined with many such facilities from Crick in the south to Tamworth in the north, and this is the place to leave them, not in virgin countryside. The proposal would take truck journeys off the national highway network BUT would put many more truck and car journeys onto the already overcrowded and inadequate local roads network. Add to this the pressure for workers living accommodation, and consequent overloading of already inadequate facilities such as schools, doctors, hospitals etc and the burden on the local area, especially the adjacent villages like Burbage would be intolerable. Add to all of this the fact that the proposed site is immediately next to Burbage Common and Woods, a SSSI I believe, and this community amenity would be devastated and rendered unusable by the community due to pollution of all types and general intrusion. The ecosystems of this site would never recover from even the construction phases of such a development. The work carried out by the applicant has been flawed and totally inadequate, and fails to address most of the concerns expressed by the majority of local residents. In conclusion, this development is completely un-needed, is flawed in proposal, and will inflict undue harm on the local communities, and should be rejected.
