1 The consultations provided by Tritax, which I have attended, have been lacking in factual information and were poorly presented. 2 Other NRFI,s already exist within 30 miles of the proposed Hinckley site so its need is dubious. 3 The suggested creation of 8500 new jobs would require a substantial daily import of labour into the area and/or new housing locally which will cause more stress on local roads and facilities. 4 The proposed 9000 HGV movements/day will create congestion on local roads in spite of suggested road improvements by Tritax. 5 One improvement outlined on the plan is a link road between the M69 and A47 (much needed). However, this incorporates roads within the site, including 3 roundabouts, making it quite unsuitable for other traffic. 6 Burbage Woods and Common, and their wildlife, provide a quiet and relaxing facility, much appreciated by residents. This would be damaged by the light and noise from the adjacent NRFI. 7 From the data provided by Tritax, it appears very doubtful that the rail capacity can match the road haulage capacity, and the site will become a warehouse complex in all but name. 8 The proposed HNRFI with its 24/7 operation provides no benefits whatsoever for the residents of Hinckley and surrounding area, but creates noise, light and exhaust pollution, increases road congestion, including at rail/road crossing points as far away as Leicester. 9 I oppose the acceptance of the HNRFI proposal.
