Grid Locked Local Roads and more noise We already have the massive Magna Park extension along the A5 underway near Lutterworth, Hinckley Park near M69/A5 and large 'out of town' housing estates also along the A5/A47 near Hinckley & Nuneaton. The A5 is now congested at most times during the day. More lorries are now going to hit the area to load and unload rail freight. Even the M69 gets congested at the M1 every day, and is not setup to go south from M69 without hitting the roundabout, which means going via M6.... or more directly, the A5 to Lutterworth a very busy road with dangerious T junctions and accident black spots. Adding some link roads to the, already congested, main arteries around Hinckley does not help local residents as they are just introducing MORE LORRIES. The fact the link roads are even being offered by the developer demonstrates they are required to help the extra traffic access the site, but what of the extra traffic that is introduced to the area. Insufficient Rail Capacity for more Freight Its all very well adding some railway sidings in the frieght terminal but what rail planning is taking place to deal with the extra frieght trains running along the eastern line. The Birmingham-Leicester line is slow and congested. The route from Leicester across to the east coast is also slow. These are not like the great northern line etc. This is going to disrupt already unreliable passenger train services. Our under funded rail network is simply not up to it. These massive slow frieght trains will cause all sorts of issues scheduling passenger trains. When are they going to run? During the night and early morning? That will disrupt everyone's sleep around the line. I live about a mile away from the trainline in my current house and I can hear them. I can't image what it will be like to live nearer, like in Narborough and put up with the noise from overnight goods trains every night. Finally, this railhub may be conveniently located next to a railway (I get that) but it is being built on more green land previous used for farming and next to Burbage Woods, a place for wildlife and for local residents to enjoy the (disappearing countryside). Surely there are more suitable brownfield sites available. There is an offer of a small number of jobs on site, more warehouse and logistics jobs. Not exactly the most well paid jobs are they? Although they may have to pay as there are plenty of those kind of jobs already around here. Yet again, our opinions are being asked for, a box ticked and we are ignored. THINGS NEED TO CHANGE!
