Having listened to some of the local engagement sessions, there seems to be a complete over statement of the benefits this will bring as a large percentage of the jobs ‘created’ will actually be jobs transferred from current facilities looking to relocate. Also, if access was limited to the M69 only then the already overstretched road network would not be affected further. If anything, more needs to be done to take away the large amount of heavy goods vehicles already using roads that are not really designed to take them. I’m all for trying to reduce the environmental impact of how goods are moved around the country, but this simply seems to be moving the problem to rural communities that are unable to cope already and will not directly benefit.
