This project will place more pressure on road infrastructure particularly on an already overused and extremely busy stretch of the A5 between M69 Island and Higham Roundabout. towards Tamworth. The Dodwells Island falls within this stretch and is always busy but is extremely congested at peak times. This has a knock-on effect on all surrounding roads particularly the A47 towards Leicester from Hinckley and also into/out of Hinckley and the Long Shoot road to Nuneaton. Basically, the whole area is a bottleneck and I feel sure that some of the lorries leaving the Freight Terminal will add to the congestion plus workers at the terminal will also add to the volume of cars. When I asked the Developers at the consultation about this they informed me that the whole issue of the A5/Dodwells problem was outside of their remit and that they would make road alterations at other locations but not at Dodwells which to me sounds ridiculous - surely they will add to the problem. Also, there is the huge Magna Park development at Lutterworth (I understand it is largest warehousing/logistics development in Europe) I would question whether we really need the proposed development with Magna Park being so close. The environmental detrimental impact on Burbage Common and surrounding area will considerable - there will be additional noise, light and air pollution with the 24 hour operation of this terminal which will follow as a result if this development is allowed to proceed. In short - it will lead to the destruction of precious habitat which is being lost at an alarming rate. For all of the above reasons, I would urge you to reject this proposal.
