I am concerned about several elements, mainly: Additional strain on our already congested local roads. The rail hub is being purported to take vehicles off the road. This will certainly not be the case locally as it will increase vehicles. Additional lorries will be required to transport goods to their end destination. Currently, whenever there is an incident on the A5 or M69 vehicles are diverted through Hinckley Town Centre, which becomes grid-locked. This already happens regularly. Additional vehicles will create more pollution and noise issues. Burbage Common is a local beauty spot, enjoyed by many and attracts a lot of wildlife. The impact on this area will be detrimental. The Hinckley area does not have many green space areas to enjoy and the Rail Hub will be devastating. The rail hub is not required, as there are several alternatives already within a 16 mile radius of this site. We cannot keep building on our green spaces. We hear much about the environment, global warming etc, and yet if this is allowed to be built, it will be another green space gone for ever. We are killing our planet for future generations.
