Whilst the very necessary requirements to transfer freight to Rail is important the preservation of vital green space in an area already scheduled for thousands of new houses is equally important. I wish to make the following observations. 1) Along the nearby A5 corridor there are huge new warehouse developments at Magna Park and Hinckley with millions of square feet available. Further warehouse developments within a couple of miles of this proposal have been approved. It surely must be possible to build a chord to connect these huge new sites to the rail network. This would demonstrate balance and joined up thinking. 2) I am struggling to understand why this has been proposed when within 20miles east there is DIRFT and west there is Birch Coppice and Hams Hall.Of all the regions in the country there are very few locations with such excellent facilities for intermodal traffic 3) I am hugely concerned that this speculative proposal could end up as an unwanted lorry park with warehousing that is clearly not required . 4)The proposal seeks to develop abutting on to Burbage Common and in particular the SSSIs of Burbage Wood and Elmesthorpe Plantation. What consideration has been given to the impact on these amazing places .The proposal will utterly destroy the rural setting and peace this park brings to many thousands of visitors.
