I have very real concerns about the environmental impact on Burbage Common and feel that the number of lorries required to service the 16 freight trains that have been mentioned have not been properly assessed and will adversely affect all the neighbouring infrastructure. The East Midlands has already seen a huge increase in the number of distribution centres and I think some assessment of what this new hub would add to our rising carbon footprint locally should be attempted. I would also dispute the promise of many new jobs being created - factories create jobs, warehouses and distribution centres really don’t.
