The South Leicestershire Liberal Democrats are a local political organisation who operate within the current parliamentary constituency of South Leicestershire. The application for the Hinckley National Rail Freight Interchange should, in our view, be refused. The infrastructure of the local area is insufficient to handle the proposed traffic volumes, and we do not believe the full wider implications of the proposed development have been sufficiently or accurately taken into account, especially in respect of J21 of the M1. Furthermore, we are concerned by the following areas: • Air quality, noise and light pollution • Location and Need of the development in Leicestershire. • Socio economic impact • Sustainability and alternative opportunities for the land
