I believe this project is far too large and is industrialising the open countryside. Little regard has been taken as to the impact of the local community, homes and wildlife. I have no issue with small solar scheme which are screened with high hedges in areas not close to other residential areas. I agree that solar panels are needed to address the energy crisis however, they should be installed on roof tops of houses, industrial buildings and offices, not in the open countryside. The way Boom Power have conducted their preliminary consultation with affected parties has been poor to say the least. They have merely done the bare minimum so that they could have this application accepted. They have not listened to local residents or done anything in order to mitigate or address their concerns. When thier representatives have been asked basic questions such as “how many panels will be put on an acre” they are unable to answer it. I’m also concerned about the effect of wildlife. We have a number of large birds of prey in the area and I worry the amount of solar panels will affect them when hunting due to the reflection.
