I oppose this development on the following grounds: Destruction of a rural setting by what is an industrial site in a which will result in loss of wildlife and prime agricultural land forever. I realise the developers say the installation will be in place for 40 years then returned to its former use. In the real world this never happens, there are many instances around the UK. The site will also sterilise corridors of land used for cable connections to the spare bay at the National Grid substation at Drax Power Station. These cables are cooled by an oil filled core which could have environmental impact should they leak, which I know is quite often (I work for National Grid) Basically I believe the proposed project will have a deeply negative and irreversible impact upon the predominantly rural setting, lose valuable productive farmland (sheep can graze extremely well on marginal upland areas where valuable arable crops cannot be grown). I wish to register my opposition to the proposed project for the above reasons.
