This rural, greenfield site is not appropriate for a large solar farm development. It will lead to a loss of productive farm land and an adverse impact on the rural landscape and biodiversity. Any agricultural use of the land alongside this development will be much less productive and not resolve the other impacts. We support and recognise the need for a green energy transition and for the UK to meet net zero targets, but this does not need to be at the expense of the wider environment. It is fundamentally inappropriate and wrong to build solar infrastructure on a rural greenfield site when recognised studies have already shown that UK renewable energy targets could be met from roof top installations for example on commercial and agricultural buildings of which there are many in the wider East Riding. Solar is only one part of green energy requirements so this is more than achievable using roof top. Thank you.
