Having attended Boom Power's non-statutory public consultation last year, I remain very concerned at the scale of the proposed site and proximity to residential communities, as well as the loss of viable farmland. During my conversation with representatives from Boom at the above meeting, it became clear that, by their own admission, the calculation or formula applied to assess quality of farmland under threat, was vague, and that actually it was unlikely that anyone would have physically visited the site to make an informed decision. My own observations were that land earmarked for coverage by solar panels were actually under crops during summer 2023. I find it utterly impossible to understand why land can be allowed to be taken out of food production for solar farming, while at the same time hundreds of houses are earmarked for North Howden with no requirement for each house to have it's own solar panels? The net effect will be loss of valuable land and habitat which is unsustainable.
